Submit the actual address, dimensions, condition and safe photographs through the estimate form. State whether the engine, trailer and loose equipment should be included. Confirm availability and scope before agreeing to a collection date.
What the assessment needs to distinguish
Describe the hull material, current supports, visible damage and unknown storage history. If a trailer is present, report known frame, coupling, tire or axle concerns without test-towing or inspecting under an unstable boat. A boat that rolls is not automatically suitable for road transport.
Ask whether the proposal involves intact transport, preparation, recovery or dismantling. Junk boat removal does not mean every condition is accepted or that cutting on the property is appropriate. No company yard or universal equipment arrangement is assumed.
Provide a route, not only a street address
Show the boat in place, nearby structures, the gate and turning space to the road. Include known widths, ground conditions and visible overhead restrictions. Do not approach utilities, shift supports or climb aboard to obtain details.
For a shared lot, explain who controls the gate, working hours and access around other vehicles. Ask which permissions the proposed method requires. Permission to use a driveway does not establish authority to remove a boat belonging to someone else.
When the owner and boat are in different places
If the boat is at a coastal marina or another waterside site, provide that actual facility and berth rather than the owner's South Gate mailing address. Ask the operator about authorized working areas and whether the proposed activity is suitable. A named marina or public launch is not permission for commercial recovery.
Describe whether the boat floats, is grounded or partly submerged. For sailboats, add mast status, rigging and keel information. Recovery, towing, lifting, mast work and road transport need explicit scope review; none is automatically included by a location label.
Agree preparation and the destination
For boat disposal, ask which recipient will accept the actual hull or separated materials and what preparation it requires. Identify fuel, oil, batteries and suspected hazardous contents without opening, draining, discharging or mixing them. Confirm who assesses preparation and which records will be available.
The cost guide helps frame questions about scope. Keep the agreed proposal, release documents and any available destination receipt. An enquiry does not certify compliance, establish salvage value or resolve an ownership dispute.
